June 14, 2016 - CONGRATULATIONS to award-winning music composer Tara Traxler, who has released her 2nd choral piece “Birds of Passage,” published by Santa Barbara Music Publishing, Inc. The poem by Longfellow is given highly creative treatment in this vibrant choral setting. Singers here have the opportunity to create great drama, on occasion spoken, but most often via great melodic lines. A colorful piano part adds to the overall dramatic impact. Arranged for SSAA. Check out the BEAUTIFUL recording BELOW from the Xavier University Women's Chorus under the direction of Robyn Reeves Lana.

Tara says, “This piece is extremely special to me, because it was the VERY FIRST choral piece I had the compositional idea for as a kid. I wrote some of it in 7th or 8th grade, [when she was studying Piano at Bray Music Studio, West Chester, OH] then put it away. I pulled it back out a couple of years ago and expanded it into the full piece I'd always imagined, one that I'm very proud of. It's just crazy to think that this little melody has been with me for so long, and now it's finally a published piece for others to sing, too. Enjoy!”

If you did not make it, you REALLY missed out on The Children's Theatre of Mason’s incredible 2015 fall production LES MISERABLES, starring Bray Studio’s Brandon Cole in the dynamic role of JEAN VALJEAN!!! Bravo to Brandon and to former student Brianna Smith! The show ran October 16-18.

The following is an excerpt of a review by Ralph Bowman -

"Went to see Les Miserables by Children's Theatre Of Mason, Inc. (CTM) and it was EPIC! A school age production of this show had me skeptical because, after having seen it twice by a Broadway touring company, seeing the 10th Anniversary video many times (love Lea Salonga as Eponine!), the 25th Anniversary video, and the movie, I assumed that high school kids could not generate the power and emotions the vocals demand for this show. I was wrong. Dead wrong! These kids were spectacular! It was right up there with any Broadway level show I have seen!

Brandon Cole, a senior at William Mason High School, was incredible as Jean Valjean, with a power and presence and a voice very few people his age can claim… There were so many incredibly talented people in this production that I cannot do it justice."

Mason, Ohio, City Council members were treated to the song “One Day More,” presented by the LES MISERABLES cast, as seen here. (Brandon Cole starts the song.)

Congratulations to the amazing cast of that wonderful musical GUYS AND DOLLS, starring Bray Studio’s Danielle Morey as the missionary SARAH, Kayla Stroud as the adorable ADELAIDE, Isabella Rosa, Annie Wesner, Spencer Walsh, and former students Kate Shields, Victoria Shields, and Megan Ledford!!!!
